Meuq was a consignment shoe store — sellers submitted their shoes and Meuq sold them for a commission. They came to me with serious performance problems. I resolved redirect chains, removed unused bloat, and implemented lazy loading, responsive images, schema.org markup, and social sharing meta tags.

Meuq was a second-hand shoe marketplace with a consignment model: sellers sent in their shoes, Meuq listed and sold them, and took a commission. The concept was solid but the site was struggling with performance issues that were hurting both user experience and search visibility.

Performance Problems The site had accumulated a range of issues: redirect chains adding unnecessary round trips, scripts and stylesheets loading that were not being used, and no modern loading strategies in place. I audited the full request path and resolved these systematically.

Modern Performance Features Once the obvious problems were cleared, I implemented the full set of modern performance and SEO practices: - Lazy loading for images below the fold - Responsive images with correct and attributes so devices only download what they need - Schema.org structured data for products to improve search result presentation - Social sharing meta tags (Open Graph, Twitter Card) so shared links rendered correctly across platforms

Hosting The site closed down a few years after the work, but remained hosted with me for around five years.

Responsibilities(1)
  • Performance audit and redirect chain removal

Audited the full request path and resolved accumulated performance issues: redirect chains adding unnecessary round trips, unused scripts and stylesheets loading on every page, and other bloat that had built up over time.

Key Features(1)
  • Lazy loading, responsive images, and structured data

Implemented lazy loading for below-fold images, responsive images with srcset/sizes so devices only download what they need, schema.org product markup for better search presentation, and Open Graph / Twitter Card meta tags for correct social sharing previews.
